• Dr.A P J Abdul Kalam, the then scientific advisor to DRDO and former President of India visited Bhavan’s Varuna in 1994.

• The school was rated first among all the Bhavan’s Schools in India, by Shikshan Bharathi in 2000, 2001 and 2003 for having secured the first position among all the Bhavan’s Schools in India, on the basis of the performance in the Std X examination. The school has maintained its position as one among the top 10 Bhavan’s Schools in India every year till date.

• In 2001 Susan Thomas of Std XII secured 1strank in the Maths-Bio stream (CBSE) among all the Bhavan’s Schools in Kerala and was placed 3rd at the All India level.

• Mahesh M was adjudged as the second topper among all the students of Bhavan’s Schools in India, for his excellent performance in the co-curricular activities during the year 2003-2004.He was the only student from Kerala to be awarded the National Science fellowship under the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yogna in 2003-’04, a programme initiated by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. He also qualified for the National Physics Olympiad.

• Lakshmi Sivakumar has created a record in the State Level Shot Put Athletic meet in the year 2002-2003.

• Shankar Ganesh bagged the Silver medal in the South Zone finals and represented South Zone in the National CBSE Athletic Meet in the year 2004-2005.

• 13 students and 3 teachers from Gravesend Grammar School, Kent, UK, visited our school in 2011 as part of Student Exchange Programme. The team comprising our students and teachers in turn visited their school in Kent in the following year.

• In 2012, Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya was adjudged as ‘The Best School’ from among the 90 schools across India, by the Shikshan Bharathi. This prestigious award was presented by the then Union Minister of state for Human Resources, Shri. Shashi Tharoor.

• The school was honoured with the title ‘Haritha Vidyalayam’ after securing the first position in the SEED Club Competition organized by Mathrubhumi in 2012-’13.

• S Sivaprasad secured 2nd rank at the National level and first rank in the Southern region in the ASSCE 2013.

•  Bhavan’s Varuna was selected for the ‘International School Award 2017-2020’ by the British Council.

• Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya received the Excellence Award in 2016, 2017 and 2018 from Brainfeed, an   Educational Magazine for Quality Education.

•  Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya hosted All Kerala CBSE Cluster Volleyball Tournament for 8 years in a row.

• The school has been a Nodal centre and a centre for AISSE and AISSCE since 2015.

• Dripta Ramya Sahoo was the topper in the Science stream among all the Bhavan’s schools in AISSCE 2015.

• Diya Mary secured Gold medal in the CBSE National Taekwondo championship in the year 2015-16.

• The school has hosted Capacity Building Programmes organized by the CBSE since 2016.

• In 2018 Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya received the “Amazing” Certificate for the World Guinness Record for creating the longest line of notebooks (1325.1 mts) in serpentine lines in the school playground.

• The 21 Kerala Battalion of NCC started in the school in 2018.

• The team comprising Vasant Joseph and Jerry Zachariah won the First prize in the Dr Pradeep P Thevannoor Innovation Award by SCMS group of institutions.

• Sreelakshmi G was the All India CBSE topper for AISSE 2018 with a score of 499/500. She also received an invitation to witness the Republic Day Parade. She was the topper in the Science stream among all the Bhavan’s schools in AISSCE 2020.

• Ann Suhas won the Gold medal in the CBSE South Zone Boxing competition and qualified for Nationals in the year 2019.

• 32 students along with Principal Smt. Mini K, Shri. Madhusudanan, Department of Mathematics and Smt. Leena P P, Department of Physics were provided with an opportunity to visit NASA, Space Research Center, USA in 2019.

• Sreelakshmi G was the topper among all Bhavan’s Schools in India in AISSCE in 2020.

Staff Achievements
• In the year 2015-16.Smt. Usha K, Principal, Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya won the CBSE Best Teacher Award.

• Smt. Shylaja T R was selected for the 2017-'18 International Educational Exchange programme to Japan organized by MHRD and Ms Yuko Metsugi visited our school in the following year.

• Smt Philomina Thomas won the Best District Teacher Award in 2014-’15 and 2019-’20 in recognition of outstanding performance of the school in SOF’s National Cyber Olympiad Exam and the Best International Teacher Award for NCO during the academic year 2010-’11.

• Smt Tessy K J won the Best District Teacher Award in 2020 from SOF in recognition of outstanding performance of the school in National Maths Olympiad Exam.

• Smt Latha E Menon was awarded the C V Ramanpillai Prize for her first novel, ‘Thirumugalbeegam’ which was translated to English and released in the International Sharja Book Festival, UAE.

• Shri Suresh Kumar won the Best Craft Teacher award given by Teach Art Kochi in 2019.

• Smt Usha K, Smt Kalyani N P, Smt Leena P P and Smt Aleyamma George received the Best Teacher Award from Nehru Group of Institutions.

• Smt Jayalakshmi G K won the Best Teacher Award in 2019 and Smt Aleyamma George and Smt Sindhu Gopakumar won the Teachers- Corona Warriors Award 2020 from IIHM.

• Smt Sreedevi A, Vice Principal, Smt Leena P P, Smt Omana Joseph and Smt Jayalakshmi G K were appointed as Resource Persons by the CBSE to conduct subject specific capacity building programmes for teachers.

• Smt Aleyamma George (HOD of Dept of Commuter Science) conferred with Bhavan’s Jindal Award 2019 for Best Teacher in the Sr. Secondary Category in recognition of invaluable services to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and the school as a teacher of outstanding merit.

• Sri Manu Narayanan, teacher Dept of Fine Arts, is the winner of ‘Ganamritam’, an All India Music competition by the Amrita Vishwa Jyothi group of Institutions.
