ANNUAL REPORT – 2024 - 2025
I extend my humble pranams to the esteemed Chief Guest; Justice P B Suresh Kumar, Judge High Court of Kerala, the Honourable Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, CA Venugopal C. Ramankutty; Dr Duvvuri Seshagiri, Director NPOL, Sri Biju Gopal, Chairman SMC, NPOL, Smt Jaya Jacob, Coordinator, Bhavan’s Research Centre, Dr Sooraj K Ambat, President PTA, Smt Smitha Jayaraj, Vice Principal, Smt Sindhu C Nair, Asst Vice Principal and all other distinguished guests, respected parents, dedicated staff, beloved students and well-wishers.

A dream becomes a goal when the right action is taken towards its achievement.
It is with immense pride that I present to this esteemed gathering the Annual Report—a reflection of the collective ventures, dynamic activities and remarkable achievements of Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya during the academic year 2024–25.
Academic Excellence
In the SSE 2024, 73 out of 84 students achieved distinction, with 20 students securing an A1 grade across all subjects. Gayathri Girish emerged as the school topper with an extraordinary score of 499 out of 500.
In English, two students attained a centum each, while one achieved the same in Sanskrit. Mathematics witnessed two centum, Social Science celebrated three and Artificial Intelligence stood out with 24 centum.
In the SSCE 2024, 69 out of 75 students achieved distinction and 8 earning an A1 grade in all subjects. Aaditya Jagannath, with 485/500 was adjudged as the school topper in the Science stream, while Ananya V Menon, with 479/500 emerged as the topper in the Commerce stream.
The results reflected academic excellence across disciplines, with 3 students achieving centum in Chemistry, 4 in Computer Science, 5 in Informatics Practices and 2 in Accountancy.

Awards and Commendations
•    P.T. Thomas Excellence Award for Best School: reflects the institution's unwavering commitment to academic excellence, the dedication of its faculty and its nurturing environment.
•    Smt. Aleyamma George, Head of the Computer Science Department, received the Award for Best Teacher.
•    Best Heritage Club Award 2023-2024: Conferred by the prestigious Intach Club.
•    Haritha Jyothi Award: A symbol of the school's steadfast dedication to environmental conservation.
•    Smt. Devipriya B Pillai, from the Social Science Department, was honoured as the Best Economics Teacher for 2023-2024 by the Kerala Commerce Forum.
•    Ms. Anjali Sadanandan, Fine Arts Faculty, earned a coveted spot in the prestigious Monsoon National Art Residency Programme organized by the Kerala Lalitha Kala Akademi.
•    Shri Vishnu Das P.S., Taekwon-Do trainer, secured a Gold Medal in Team Sparring, a Silver in Individual Pattern, and a Bronze in Individual Sparring at the 39th National ITF Taekwon-Do Championship 2024, also attaining his 3rd DAN Black Belt.
•    At the Annual Inter-School Vidyodaya Camp 2024, the Teachers' Team Aryabhatta, led by Ms. Anagha Mani (Computer Science Department), won the Best Team Prize.
•    In Abhiruchi 2024: All Kerala Teacher’s Conclave, the Computer Science duo, Ms. Anagha Mani and Smt. Vidya Mohan, secured Second Prize in the ‘Eco-Tech Harmony’ category, Smt. Anjali A.G. (Biology) and Smt. Anjali C. Prasad (Physics) achieved Third Prize in the ‘STEM to STEAM’ category and Smt Lakshmi Lavanya & Smt Leela Achyuthan, our KG teachers won the second prize in Magic Box.
Achievements to Cherish in 2024-25
•    Ashna M. of Class IX received the distinguished P.T. Thomas Educational Award for Outstanding Performance 2024 for her exceptional accomplishments in powerlifting.
•    Evolve India Robot Olympiad 2024: Our four teams advanced to the Nationals.
•    ATL Competition ‘PROUDYOGIKI’: Students secured Second Prize across all three categories.
•    In the Vidyodaya Inter –school camp: Our Team Gaganyan won Best Team and Team Aditya was the First Runners-Up.
•    Assisi MUN 2024 & Pratheeksha Inter-School MUN: The school claimed the Overall Trophy.
•    Nadanirjari 2024: Students earned multiple prizes.
•    Srushti Dance Competition: The school achieved 4th position overall.
•    Udan 2024: Our team won the First Prize in Assistive Technology.
•    Swapasya Literary Fest: School secured the Overall Championship Trophy.
•    Bhavan’s Cultural Fest 2024: Students excelled across various categories.
•    In SOF International Commerce Olympiad, Arsha A.J. won the Gold Medal of Excellence.
•    Ishitha Susan George secured 3rd rank in VVM state level.
•    Gourinanada Nettayikkodath won Kalakrithi Medal of Appreciation for Bharatanatyam.
•    Breakthrough Science Society Quiz: The school team Secured 3rd Prize in Junior Quiz.
•    Gautham Maarkandan earned a SPOT Genii Certificate and Badge in National SPOT100 Test.
•    Abacus SIP Prodigy: Sreehari S. received the Performer Award.
•    Campion Rhetoric Contest 2024: Niketha N. Nishad secured Second Place in Elocution.
•    In the Toc H Literary Contest, Lohitha M. won First Prize in Persuasive Speech.
•    Sanskrit Festival: Students won various accolades across various literary events like recitation, versification and Gita Chanting.
•    In Sahodaya Kalotsav 2024 & State Fest, our students left indelible marks by winning prizes.
•    WWFGC State-Level Challenge witnessed our team winning the First Runners-Up positon.
•    All Kerala Children’s Fest: Shriya Sandeep earned the 2nd Prize in Malayalam Recitation.
Sports and Games
•    40 students secured prizes in the Taekwondo Championship.
•    Harshvardhan Brijesh made his mark by securing the following prizes:
2nd prize in Boys' Doubles and the 3rd prize in both Singles and Mixed Doubles at the District Badminton Tournament.
He is the winner in the Under 14 boys' individual singles in the prestigious Archbishop Attipetty All Kerala Inter School CBSE Shuttle Badminton Tournament 2024.
•    Dharmik Sreekumar won the following prizes:
•    second Prize in the Under 17 boy’s singles Kerala Open PNB Metlife Junior Badminton Championship 2024 and 2nd runner-up position in the Individual Singles Boys Under-17 category at the CBSE National Badminton Championship 2024.
•    In the CBSE Cluster XI Badminton Championship held at The Oxford School Trivandrum the team consisting of Dharmik Sreekumar and Harshvardhan Brijesh won the Team Championship and qualified for the Nationals.
•    A few students triumphantly swam a remarkable 780 meters in Periyar River, Aluva.
•    Devnand Eby of Standard I proudly claimed the coveted Finisher Medal in the 5km run organised by Decathlon and a prestigious gold medal in the Alhuda Marathon 2024, organized by Alhuda Public School.
•    Varun Shouri bagged the following prizes:
First prize in the District Yogasana Championship organized by Yoga Association of Ernakulam.
The Player of the Match title in the Newsprint Soccer 2024-2025.
Varun Shouri & Adithya Gopan won second and fourth position respectively in District Yogasana Championship 2024.
•    The Ernakulam Chess Association organised Chess Championships under various categories. In the District School Team Chess Championship, the school proudly claimed the Third Position.
•    Abhijit V secured the First Prize in the High School category, Karthika Sajith won the Second Prize in the Upper Primary category.
•    Veda V of Std II gained 20th position in Under 15 Girls Category
•    Anvitha Renjith of Std I won the first prize in the Under 6 category.
•    Gaurikrishna L made remarkable achievements in Shotput:
Second place in the Girls U-18 category at the All Kerala State Inter Club Athletic Meet in Trivandrum.
First position in the CBSE Cluster XI Athletic Meet, 1st prize in the Ernakulam District Athletics Championship 2O24.
•    Anjali P Joshy brought accolades to the school:
3rd place in 100m (U 18 Girls category) and 2nd place in 200m Sprint in the All Kerala State Inter Club Athletic Meet in Trivandrum.
1st prize in 100 mts & 200mts race and turned out to be the Individual Champion in the cluster XI Athletic Meet.
•    The school Kabaddi team acquired the Second Runners up position in the U 14, U17 & U 19 Girls Category in the CBSE Inter School Cluster XI Kabaddi Tournament 2024.
•    In the CBSE Cluster XI Volleyball Tournament, the school won the following prizes.

•    In the CBSE Cluster XI Football Tournament, U 14 Boys turned out to be the Runners Up.
•    Mirabella Antony showcased remarkable prowess at the Ernakulam District Roller Skating Championship by securing a trio of accolades:
Gold Medal in 100 meters
Silver Medal in 500 meters
Bronze Medal in Dual
•    Sayaan Sanu of Std IV secured 3rd position in the LP Category in the Royal Gram Pit Season 2 Chess Tournament held at Rajagiri Public School.
•    Keerthana bagged the first prize in the Kumite Sub-Junior Girls category at the Ernakulam District Sports Karate Association competition.
•    Bhadra Anoop secured Gold Medal in 24th Ernakulam District Wushu Championship 2024 Sub-junior category.
•    Our students achieved commendable success in the 40th Dr. K.M. Munshi Memorial Inter-School Athletic Meet 2024.
Staff Enrichment Programmes
Principal attended the following sessions:
•    15th All India Conference for Bhavan's Principals of Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools-held at Bhavan’s Tripura Vidya Mandir, Agartala on the theme ‘Leaders Leading with Vision’, A Consultative Meeting on Balvatika & Jadui Pitara by COE Trivandrum, 2-day session on ‘Training of Trainers’ Certification Course by CBSE. An online training programme on PRAYOG for Principals affiliated to CBSE.
•    Principal and teachers attended a number of sessions organised by CBSE COE, Bhavan’s Research Centre and other recognised bodies on NEP, NCF, active learning, holistic progress card, SQAA, Art Integration etc.
•    Special Lectures by Dr. Dinesh Nair, Dr S Somanath, Dr. Sandeep Shastri & so on.  
•    The newly joined teachers attended the five-day online induction programme organized for the new recruits of Bhavan's Schools.
•    The non-teaching staff of the school also underwent training session on ‘Personality Development’.
Empowering the Young Minds
•    Students from Standard XI, embarked on an educational journey to Sreeharikota witnessing the historic launch of the PROBA-3 satellite.
•    They also had the opportunity to witness the cutting-edge Robotic XI System at VPS Lakeshore hospital.
•    Our students attended the Evolve Robotics sessions.
•    Shri Vijay Menon, the acclaimed motivational speaker and trainer, inspired the staff & students with an interactive session held at school.
•     The ‘Reading Marathon’ & ‘Reading Challenge’ activities were conducted by CBSE for students.
•    CBSE conducted the SAFAL for Std IX.
•    30 students from Std VII attended an online ACP Survey.
•    Students from Std VI to XII attended the Varuna Model United Nations (MUN) Conference, focusing on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the second session focused on "Integrating Emerging Reserve Currencies into the Global Financial System."
•    The Kerala Fire and Rescue Services conducted an informative mock drill for the students.
•    Students also had the opportunity to listen to the Deputy Director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. Career Guidance sessions organised by TIME & KCF (Kerala Commerce Forum).
•    They were privileged to listen to Dr. Manesh Michael, on 'Chandrayaan & Aditya L1, Shri N T Niyas, Scientist Meteorological Centre, Student's Space Summit organized by CUSAT.
•    Other programmes attended by teachers & students:
•    A 24 Hr. Dr. Pradeep P Thevanoor Hackathon at SCMS School.
•     Participation in ABHYUDAYA ‘24 - ATAL Competition
•     2-day STEP - organized by RSET.
•    Field trip to Ponnakkudam, Sacred Groves, Thevakkal organised by SEED Club.
•     3 days ‘National Nature Camping Programme’ at Thattekad Bird Sanctuary as part of National Green Corps programme.
•    Attended an exhibition at the Asian School of Architecture in Vytilla.
•    Attended Robofusion workshop on Robotics and Coding.
•    Interactive sessions with the esteemed author Dr. Pushpa R. Menon, ISRO scientists and so on.

Events and Initiatives of Varuna
•    Principal Smt Remadevi K P served as the Resource person for Capacity Building Programme for Chemistry Teachers of Senior Secondary Classes.
•    The school hosted prestigious events like Insignia 2K24, an Inter-School Art & Craft Fest, the 19th Varuna Cup Inter-School Volleyball Tournament, Kerala CBSE Inter School Cluster XI Kabaddi Tournament 2024 & the third edition of Abhiruchi 2024, All Kerala Teacher’s Conclave.
•    It served as the centre for various examinations like, CBSE Board Examination, NIOS Examination, NEET 2024, NDA Examination & so on.
•    No Bag Day, “Kalivanchi’ was organized for Std I to VIII.
•    CBSE conducted Aryabhatta Ganit Challenge (ACG).
•    The school underwent Shikshan Bharati Comprehensive Evaluation.
•    On the auspicious day of Vijayadashami, the Vidyarambham Ceremony was held in the school.
•    A Redressal and Grievance committee as well as a School Protection Group were formed.
•     ‘Shiksha Saptah’ activities were launched.
•    The Club Activities for the academic year 2024-2025 were inaugurated.
•    The school joined the nation in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, a central government initiative.
•    Under the auspices of the Seed Club, vegetable harvests and planting of Chrysanthemum flowers took place in the school premises.
•    The school took part in the competitions conducted in connection with ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’.
•    A Comprehensive Medical check-up was held for all the students.
•    An awareness session on "Student Community Involvement in Palliative Care" was organized by Team 'ARIKE' with the purpose of establishing a Student Palliative Care Unit, 'Koode,' within the school.
•    The school organized a sacred pooja dedicated to the students of Grades X and XII.
•    The school hosted Ashirvachanam, the formal farewell ceremony for the students of Std XII.
•    Parent Teacher Association of the school organised a session for the students of Std X & XII on ‘Overcoming Examophobia, a mindful approach’ by MS Anu Suraj, Mental Health Professional.
Community Outreach Programmes
•    As part of the Social Service Club's initiatives, essential school supplies were provided to the students of Mar Athanasius High School, Kakkanad and M.A. Abukakkar Memorial Government L.P. School, Kakkanad.
•     The students of Std XI & XII, joined hands under the guidance of Shri Vijay Menon, the renowned trainer in accumulating resources and providing medicines to aid the tribal communities in Wayanad.
•    ‘Naam Onnu’ in collaboration with the school Social Service Club ventured on several altruistic gestures such as distributing the essentials for Onam Sadya to the children of Govt L P School Kakkanad and collecting essential items, which were graciously distributed to 83 students of MA Abubakkar Memorial Govt LP School, Kakkanad.
•    A group of students under the leadership of Shri Sreeraj Sreedharan faculty Department of Physical Education, engaged in a cleaning drive, diligently enhancing the surroundings of the North Railway Station Ernakulam.
•    A group of teachers participated in a Pedestrian March driven by the powerful motto, "A Drive for Green, Clean, and Safe Footpaths."
House and Club Activities
To foster holistic growth and cultivate the inherent talents of our students, a vibrant spectrum of co-scholastic activities and inter-house competitions enriched the academic year. Events like Ramayana Parayanam, quizzes, paper presentations, thematic painting, and literary contests were thoughtfully organised, offering students an inspiring platform to exhibit their skills while nurturing a spirit of constructive competition and companionship.
National Cadet Corps
George Liju of Class IX, achieved the notable distinction of being selected for the prestigious Thal Sainik Camp (TSC). As part of his preparation, he actively participated in training camps, honing his skills in map reading and marksmanship through firing practice.
Parent Teacher Association
The PTA remains steadfast in its mission to enrich the educational experience for our students. This year, it generously sponsored trophies and certificates for the Prathibhotsavam Annual Merit Day, celebrating the outstanding achievements of SSE and SSCE toppers. PTA celebrated Teachers’ Day paying reverence to the educators as well as the staff fraternity by presenting each and every one with a thoughtful gift.  The PTA is funding awards for the Annual Day and has planned a PTA Day to strengthen collaboration and engagement. PTA has also initiated in conducting various sessions for students.  It generously sponsored a podium microphone to improve the sound quality during formal school events. In connection with Children’s Day Celebrations PTA initiated distribution of ‘payasam’ for all the students.
School Library
The school’s library serves as a treasure trove of wisdom. We take immense pride in preserving a richly stocked repository, thoughtfully assembled to address the varied interests of our scholarly community. Housing an extensive assortment of 11,617 volumes and ensuring continual annual updates, the library remains a cornerstone for intellectual discovery and educational advancement.

Resource Room and Counselling
The support centre in our school is committed to offer essential guidance to students with unique learning needs. Staffed by skilled special educators working in close coordination with teachers and parents, the centre plays a pivotal role in guaranteeing that each student receives the personalised assistance required to thrive in their educational journey.
