GRAND INAUGURATION OF READING WEEK CELEBRATION
With the objective of fostering a love for books and highlighting the importance of reading among students, the Reading Week Celebration for the academic year 2026-27 commenced at Bhavan's Varuna Vidyalaya on June 19th with extensive programmes.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Prasanth Pankan, a Kerala Folklore Academy Award winner, folk music researcher, and artist. Earlier, Kumari Shrinidhi K. A. extended a warm welcome to the gathering. In his address, the Chief Guest emphasised that reading is the most powerful tool for expanding human knowledge and thinking capacity, and he urged the students to make reading an integral part of their daily routine. School Principal Smt. Remadevi K. P. also spoke on the occasion, highlighting the vital role that reading plays in the intellectual development of students. Following this, school librarian Ms. Maya A. M. administered the Reading Day Pledge to the students. A storytelling session presented by Kumari Aaradhya Manoj garnered significant attention and appreciation. As part of the function, the official inauguration of the class libraries were also conducted, and Kumari Eza Josan delivered the vote of thanks.
As part of the week-long celebrations, a Mathrubhumi Book Fair titled "Jeevananu Vayana" (Reading is Life) will be organised on June 22nd and 23rd. Additionally, a diverse range of competitions and programmes have been arranged for students across various classes. School Principal Smt. Remadevi K. P. stated that these initiatives are organised to cultivate reading habits in students and to open up new horizons of knowledge through books. Smt. Saritha C. (Vice Principal in-charge) was also present at the function.
