International Day against Drug abuse

Empowering minds, breaking chains – Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya takes a stand against drug abuse.

Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya solemnly observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, on June 30th 2025 aligning with this year’s global theme, " Breaking the chains: Prevention, Treatment and Recovery for All” The observance aimed to sensitise students to the grave physical, psychological and social consequences of drug abuse, while fostering a collective resolve to combat the global menace of illicit trafficking.


In collaboration with the Kerala Excise Department under its flagship Vimukthi Mission, the school organised a thought-provoking awareness programme that seamlessly blended education with culture. Master Pranav Praveen welcomed the gathering giving a befitting start to the programme. The highlight of the event was an enlightening session through a captivating ‘Ottanthullal’ performance, skillfully presented by Shri Jayaraj V, Assistant Excise Inspector, Ernakulam. Students from Grades VI - IX and XI attentively took part in the event, gaining valuable insights into the urgent issue of drug abuse through both informative discourse and traditional art.

Principal Smt. Remadevi K. P. addressed the students, while Vice Principal Smt. Smitha Jayaraj remained actively present throughout the programme, reaffirming the school’s unwavering dedication to nurturing students with awareness, resilience and strong values amid evolving social challenges. Vaishnavi Pramod Poduval of Std XI proposed vote of thanks on the occasion.
